Chinatown Bandung

I was in Bandung on 21 October 2017. At noon, I met Yolan and Adeeva @ Braga City Walk. Then, we visited Chinatown (on Jalan Kelenteng No. 41, Ciroyom, Andir, Bandung). I suggest you don’t come by your own car, because it will be hard to find a parking space there. Before walk into the Chinatown, you have to pay IDR 20k / person with debit card.

welcome to Chinatown

Inside Chinatown, there are some chinese architecture buildings, with obviously chinese decoration style. It also has souvenir shop. Chinatown has a great deal of photogenic and instagram-able spots 😀 moreover, there are a lot of food and drink stalls. Again, you have to pay with debit card. At the time, I picked thai tea and skewers. Chinatown provides the visitors plenty of outdoor seats.

Bandung : Wiki Koffie, Sadang Korean BBQ, Resor Dago Pakar

8 April 2017 08:45 am, I rode Argo Parahyangan train from Gambir Station to Bandung Station. Around 12 pm, I arrived at Bandung. Then, I went directly to Wiki Koffie (on Jl. Braga No. 90), to met my high school roommate. Her name is Rea, I usually call her : Babang.

Wiki Koffie is located on the corner of Braga Street and Lembong Street. Such coffee shop has unique ambiance with Dutch architectural style. They painted the outside of the building in white and bring retro style decorating inside the building. It feels homey and cozy ❤

Then, we decided to have lunch @ Sadang Korean BBQ (on Jalan Wastukencana No.63). The restaurant is spacious enough and divided into 2 areas : indoor and semi outdoor. At the time, we prefer to sit in semi outdoor space, next to the garden pond.

we sat next to the garden pond

We ordered Dak-galbi topped with mozzarella cheese. Dak-galbi is Korean dish made by stir-frying marinated chicken in savory, sweet, and spicy sauce with cabbage and other veggies. Also, the waitress served us Banchan, which is consisted of : a kind of bakwan (fried dish made from batter), stir-fried pumpkin, baby potatoes, frozen vegetables, stir-fried tofu, and kimchi. Banchan are a group of small dishes set in the middle of the table to be shared.

Next, I headed to Yolan’s house and stayed there overnight. Yaaay I met Baby Deeva again ❤

9 April 2017. Baby Deeva, Yolan, and me woke up around 9 am hehe. Then, the three of us, along with Aunty Zizi, got ready for swimming @ Resor Dago Pakar (on Jl. Dago Pakar Permai I No.9) not longer after.

Baby Deeva in bumble bee costume, too adorable to be true!

After we had finished swimming, we returned home, took a bath, and had lunch together. I packed my belongings afterwards, then ordered Uber to the station, and finally I rode Argo Parahyangan train (again) at around 4.10 pm to Jakarta.

Tchao Bandung!

Continue the story from the previous post, in this post, I will tell you some stories when we were together for around 4-5 days during his 2-weeks-off on May.

Our first rendezvous after about 2 months of LDR (Long Distance Relationship) is an after-office-hours-movie-date on 12 May 2017 @ Senayan City! We watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which had already released since April hehe. Finallyyy, we met again, I’m sooooo happy!!!! Before we got into the cinema, we had early dinner @ Bakerzin (on Lower Ground), since I was already hungry because I only had bubur sumsum for lunch.

14 May 2017, we met @ Gambir Station at around 8 am to rode Argo Parahyangan Train to Bandung at 8:45. When we reached Bandung, we had lunch @ Sop Buntut Dahapati (on Jalan Cipaganti No.146), because he was a bit ill after yesterday futsal tournament……..

15 May 2017, he wanted to have Bubur Ayam Serbu Rame (on Jalan Cisitu Lama, near Cisitu Baru) for his breakfast hehe, therefore we headed there after we took a bath and got ready.

Next, we strolled around the campus of ITB for a while, and headed to the Lodge Maribaya not longer after. Had finished @ the Lodge Maribaya at around 3 pm, we had late lunch @ Steak Hotel by Holycow! TKP Bandung 2 (on Jalan Cipaganti No.150).

In the night, we went to Cihampelas Walk, Teras Cihampelas, and had dinner @ Kambing Bakar Cairo (on Jalan Cihampelas No.123).

16 May 2017, I wanted to have Nasi Kuning SSC (on Jalan Sumur Bandung) for breakfast, hence we headed there after checked out.

lovely yellow rice ❤

Then, we went to Bandung Makuta (on Jl. Van Deventer No.2), a very happening gift shop in Bandung nowadays. We arrived there at around 9.30 am, and all I can see is a long queue weeew~ their product sold out quickly. But eventually, I can bring home makuta caramel and makuta extra cheese, Alhamdulillah!

what do you do when you are standing in a long queue? | my makuta caramel and makuta extra cheese :9

Next, we ate again 😀 we decided to have his favorite meal : meatballs! Luckily, Bakso So’un & Mie Ayam Lodaya (on Jalan Veteran No.3) is situated across the Bandung Makuta, so that we went there afterwards.

I returned to Jakarta by Argo Parahyangan Train at 4:10 pm, thus we walked to Blackbone Coffee (on Jalan Panaitan No.22) to have lemonade and mojito (not coffee obviously hehe) and sat inside to kill time until around 3 pm. After I had boarded the train, he went to bus station to go home.

Blackbone Coffee

23 May 2017. He was in Jakarta, as tomorrow he will return to the sites again. After office hours, we had dinner @ Kawasan Kuliner BSM (on Jalan M.H. Thamrin No.7) along with some of his friends at his former office. The last but not the least, on 24 May 2017, I accompanied him to the airport……

It’s been almost a month since the last time I saw him, can’t wait to see him again next month ❤

Bandung : ITB, Roti Gempol, Taman Sejarah, Taman Balai Kota, Yellow Truck

22 March 2017. Around 8 am, we headed to hotel restaurant for breakfast (day 1). Then, we left to the campus of ITB to attend ITB International Geothermal Workshop (IIGW) 2017.

the seminar

On lunch break, Dinda and I strolled around the campus. It is a saudade. Our starting-point is Himpunan Timur Jauh. Then, we walked to Kantin Bengkok, Parkiran SR, Masjid Salman, the main gate, boulevard, Tugu Soekarno, Kolam Indonesia Tenggelam, Plaza Widya, DPR, Oktagon / TVST, and returned to the seminar venue.

When the first day of the workshop ends, Dinda and I went to Roti Gempol (on Jl. Gempol Wetan No.14, Citarum, Bandung) for early dinner, before we returned to the hotel.

my wheat bread with eggs + meat + cheese and Addictea thai tea ❤

23 March 2017. Around 8 am, we went to hotel restaurant for breakfast. Then, we left to the campus of ITB to attend the last day of the workshop. After lunch break, Dinda and I visited Taman Sejarah, a historic park which is newly available for public use. Such area is situated behind Balai Kota Bandung. On the park, you can find relief walls and several glasses in a row which portray the faces of the mayors of Bandung. Moreover, if you travel with children, they can play in shallow pool on this park. When I was there, there are a lot of elementary / kindergarten students participate in a study tour.

a glass which portray the face of current mayor of Bandung (Bapak Ridwan Kamil)

Then, we walked to Taman Balai Kota which lies in the complex of Balai Kota Bandung. It was pretty crowded when I visited the park. The majority of the visitors are teenagers, who do dance practice, take photos, or just sit in the park. There is a statue of white rhinoceros (Taman Badak) there. Below the statue, there is a fish pool with fountain. In addition to that, you can also find love locks area. Above the love locks, there is a red ‘LOVE’ sign.

Taman Badak as a part of Taman Balai Kota

My next destination was Yolan’s house, because Aunty Sabi missed Baby Adeeva so much :3 also, I miss Mommy Yolan’s home-made food ❤ After Maghrib, I returned to the hotel.

Adeeva :*

24 March 2017 was my last day in Bandung, it was a free time yaaay! In the morning, Dinda and I swam in hotel swimming pool, because I hadn’t worked out during the week.

Then, we returned to the room, took a shower, and had breakfast. We had breakfast along with Fika, who visited us at the time 😀 after had breakfast, we packed our belongings and Dinda went home, while Fika and I headed to Yellow Truck (on Jl. Linggawastu No.11, Tamansari, Bandung).

Sabi et Fika @ Yellow Truck

my favorite tea of all times : English Breakfast!

The last but not the least, Fika drove me to Bandung Station (thanks Fika!). I rode Argo Parahyangan train at around 11:30 to Jakarta, so I can join tennis practice in the afternoon 😀

Sabi et Fika @ the station

I never get bored to visit Bandung ❤ despite the fact that there are some places make me feel nostalgic, but still I love Bandung so much!

Bandung : The Majesty Hotel, Teras Cihampelas, Warunk Upnormal, Ciwalk

21 March 2017. Dinda (a friend of mine in the office) and I went to Bandung, because we had to attend IIGW (International ITB Geothermal Conference) 2017 @ the campus of ITB on 22-24 March 2017. Je suis ravie, as it’s been a while since I last visited my campus in early 2014……

We rode Argo Parahyanagan Train which departed from Gambir Station at 8.45 am, and reached Bandung at 12 pm. In Bandung Station, I bought a box of Mayasari’s bolen pisang keju (cheese and banana wrapped in dough). Then, we went to Majesty Hotel (on Jl. Surya Sumantri No.91, Sukajadi, Bandung).

the hotel lobby

After check-in, Dinda and I headed to our room on the 12th floor. Our room is a 3-bedrooms-and-2-bathrooms-apartment of (around) 100 square meters. After we had took a rest for a while, we decided to go to the hotel restaurant (next to hotel lobby) and have the welcome drink.

Next, we intended to have lunch @ Roti Gempol Jl. Surya Sumantri, buuuut when we got the place, it evidently has already permanently closed now 😦 so that, we changed our destination to Cihampelas Walk (Ciwalk) and Teras Cihampelas / Cihampelas Skywalk not longer after.

Cihampelas Street currently resembles a tunnel, since a bridge (called Teras Cihampelas) of length 500 m was built above it. There are 3 staircases and 1 lift which is available for you to climb the bridge.

@ Teras Cihampelas / Cihampelas Skywalk

Then, we had early dinner @ Warunk Upnormal (padahal di Jakarta juga ada yaaa hehe), before we got into the cinema to watch Beauty and the Beast 😀

Warunk Upnormal’s most famous item is their selection of creative indomie dishes. Such restaurant consist of 2 stories (non smoking on the 1st floor and smoking area on 2nd floor). Their wifi is good enough, while the interior inside is cozy and instagram-able.

my nasi kulit sambel konslet (rice, chicken skin, hot sambal) and lychee juice

At the time, I picked lychee juice and nasi kulit sambel konslet (rice, chicken skin, hot sambal) with addition of sliced smoked beef. Both the dish and the beverage tasted good 😀 the waitress said that sambel konslet is a very hot sambal, buuut I think it’s not really hot hmmmm~ However, it is delicious, I like it!

PS : all photos in this post courtesy of Dinda, because a couple of days after I returned to Jakarta, I lost all photos in my phone’s Camera album hiks…… Bon, see you tomorrow.

Bandung : Farmhouse Susu Lembang, RM Padang Malah Dicubo

18 September 2016. The five of us (Sabi, Mba Hana, Ndai, Manda, and Rani) woke up early and took a shower, then we ordered Roti Gempol for delivery via GoFood. After that, we left hotel (Chara Hotel, Gatot Subroto) around 9 am and headed to Farmhouse Susu Lembang by Fika’s car. Thank you Fika for picking us up 😀

before we left (back row L-R : Manda, Mba Hana, Ndai; front row L-R : Fika, Sabi, Rani)

Since we left quite early, the traffic congestion didn’t occur yet Alhamdulillah. So that, we could arrive at Farmhouse 30 minutes later yaaay! AT the front entrance, we should pay IDR30,000/person. Please keep your ticket safe, as it can be exchanged for a glass of (chocolate / plain / strawberry) milk for welcome drink. After Fika had parked the car, we strolled around Farmhouse.

Farmhouse Susu Lembang is one of current most popular tourist attraction in Bandung. It is situated on Jalan Raya Lembang. Fyi, Lembang is renowned for its milk production. Buildings inside the Farmhouse were designed to resemble classic European houses. SUch place is totally crowded on weekends hiks. I thought that Farmhouse is quite similar to Colmar Tropicale – Malaysia, it is bigger than Malaysian’s tho, also the weather is friendly, cold enough compared to the Colmar Tropicale ❤

Before we boarded the train, we bought klapertart and brownies @ Den Haag Klapertart and Kartika Sari, across the station. Also, we bought the most delicious dendeng ijo (dendeng batokok) in the world @ RM Malah Dicubo for lunch :9

See you, Bandung! ❤

Bandung : Eta’s Wedding, Bakso Soun Lodaya, LOL, Alun-Alun Bandung

17 October 2016 is Eta’s wedding day!!!!

I woke up early, then I salat subh, took a shower, wore my soft contact lenses, put on the make up, and dressed. After the six of us (the other participants of this trip: Mba Hana, Ndai, Manda, Dea, Rani; and I) got ready, we waited for Fika to pick us up from the hotel to the wedding venue in Graha Mangunggal Tridaya Cakti, which is also situated on Gatot Subroto Street, Bandung (similar to our hotel, Chara Hotel).

pardon my selfie 😀

Then, the seven of us (plus Fika currently) arrived a little too late on the venue, but Alhamdulillah we still had chance to see Eta’s solemnization kyaaaa! They had Javanese tradiotional ceremony for their wedding……. Not longer after that, the solemnization was finished.

After the wedding reception had finished, we returned to hotel, wore our casual clothes, salat zuhr & asr, then strolled around the city yay! Oyaa, since Fika came a bit late in the morning, she didn’t join the morning photo session, thus we held afternoon photo session hehe. But unfortunately without Ndai, because she’s already gone outside with some of her college friends.

yhaaa begitulah~

Our first destination was Bakso Soun & Mie Ayam Lodaya (beef ball, rice vermicelli, and chicken & mushroom noodles) on Veteran Street. I love beef ball so much, and their beef ball and rice vermicelli tasted delicious! ❤

pretended to be happy when in fact we were soooo hungry~

Next destination was LOL (Lick Over Lips) on Emong Street (near to Batagor Abuy). We had delicious ice cream there, and they allow the customers to add topping by themselves hihi. I chose bubble gum, yakult, and cheese cake flavor with astor, pocky, and marshmallow topping.

Fika went home thereafter, whilst Dea returned to Jakarta, because she had another agenda on Sunday morning. Currently, there was only the 4 of us (Mba Hana, Rani, Manda, and I). So that, we decided to go to alun-alun (square). Alun-alun Bandung on Saturday night was extremely crowded (kalau mau sepi jam 2 pagi aja yesssh ke sininya hihi).

Alun-Alun Bandung!

Sabi and Mba Hana @ alun-alun

We headed back to hotel on 8 pm, because we were a bit sleepy at the moment. I took some photos of interesting hotel-corridor, before I took a shower, salat maghrib & isha, and slept.

I hate to say these, but I have to 😦 Unfortunately, I had 2 bad experiences with Chara Hotel : 1) AC for my room didn’t work well, it was so hot and inconvenient!; 2) I found a cockroach in my room 😦 I hope Chara Hotel can make some improvement for such problem immediately.

à bientôt!
